Photographed in the now defunct Virginia Aviation Museum on 10 September 2006. This aircraft has now (2017) been moved to the Yankee Air Museum in Belleville, Michigan, with the support of the US Navy. The move was funded by a generous donor.
This aircraft served aboard USS Forrestal in the late 1960s, but is pained to represent 148442 NP694 of US Navy VA-216. THis unit was called "The Black Diamonds".In this guise it is a tribute to Paul Galanti, who during the Vietnam War was shot down and captured on 17 June 1966after completing more than 95 missions from USS Hancock.
