13/6/2017 South Yorkshire Aircraft Museum, Doncaster, UK
Douglas DC 3 built in 1939 as a civilian transport. Passed through several owners
By 1961 the aircraft was registered to the Ford Motor Co in Argentina for transporting executives. It was said to be the most lavishly equipped DC3 in the world.
Came to the museum from the 390th Bomb group museum at Framlington, Suffolk.
It will be fully restored for static display but, as you can see, much work needs to be done.
As a by the by I flew in a DC3 from a grass airfield in 1960 in deepest Kent...........
